The crowds were out in force at Border Park, with over 80 people in attendance to watch the last game of the season.
The Trefy boys started well and were making good plays, but Malpas were showing that this was a game that they too wanted to win. It wasn't long before Owen Davies got between the posts and Glen Penlington converted, making it 7 - 0 with 21 minutes gone. However, Malpas hit straight back to make it 7 - 7. A great run up the pitch by winger Owen Powell allowed Luke Morgan to go over in the corner. Another conversion by Glen Penlington made the score 14 - 7, but yet again Malpas seemed to sneak over the line bringing it up to 14 - 12 at half time.
During the second half, Trefy just couldn't get hands on the ball and Malpas, as the bigger and heavier pack, forced their way over for another two tries, both of which were converted. Trefy came close several times, with Tom Powell and Joe Barrett each getting held up just short of the line, but the visitors proved too strong and the game finished 14 - 31.
